I wanna apply to Australia for this February intake if not then America for August intake. I haven’t started classes for ielts or tofel till now since my results are not out yet. But today I get to know that all the dates are pack for ielts for next 4 months(https://ielts.britishcouncil.org/nepal). And I’m scared to do tofel because I do not have proper typing skills and I’m also not sure if Australian Universities will accept tofel. What can I do now. I’m sacred to death now.

As far as I know, Australian universities are pretty flexible with English proficiency requirements. They usually accept TOEFL or PTE in lieu of IELTS.

I haven’t taken the IELTS so I don’t have a basis to compare which one is easier but from my experience of taking the TOEFL, I can assure you that there is no reason to freak out. I literally started preparing for TOEFL just two days before the test and I got a pretty decent score. I got a 106 (I spoiled speaking though I scored just 22). There is absolutely nothing to be nervous about taking the exam in the computer. Once you take couple of practice tests, you will feel confident. TOEFL is all about writing, speaking, reading and listening in a specific format. For instance, In the writing section you need to write two essays. Those essays are meant to be written in a certain format. Example: The normal essay should be a five paragraph essay, it should have a clear thesis, the topic sentences should support the thesis, you will have to give examples and so on. If you do not write the essays in the specified format, you might not score good marks. The same applies with speaking.

There is a website called notefull.com. Its the site I used to prepare for my TOEFL test. There are tutorial videos on the format of the TOEFL and guide to specific sections of the text. I suggest you to go through those videos and make notes of all the tips, tricks and format. Then take a practice test on computer. Practice tests are available in the CDs that you get with TOEFL books. You can also find the software online in you look thoroughly. There is Barron’s, Kaplan’s and ets available online. However, you have to quite an effort to look for it. While taking the practice tests, apply the things you learnt in video. You will do fine. All the best and you can message me through facebook if you have any questions.

Yes, Australian universities do accept TOFEL. So, don’t worry about it. But are you sure that you that all the dates are full for IELTS? Make sure about that. Call the British Council to make sure. As far as I know typing slowly should not hamper your TOFEL.
