You can send an invite to your teacher through Common App. Once the invite is sent, the teacher will receive an email that will have directions to create account and send the recommendation.

The number to total recommendations depends upon the college requirements. You need to check the website of the college. Under “Admissions” it may mention what types of recommendations are required. If none is mentioned, sending an email to the college counselor would be helpful. Generally most colleges accept two recommendations (one from science and other from non-science). But do check the website to be sure on this.

Technically, you are not allowed to create an account for your guidance counselor. I am sure it should not that difficult for him to do so. I would recommend you to sit together with him while you create the account and guide him through the process. Creating an account takes 5 mins, so should be no biggie.

Are you registered for SATs and TOFEL or IELTS? If yes, you look good. Go on with the process and I am sure you will have more questions. Best of luck.

I(Another guy also who prefers to be anonymous) also have a question about Counselor, and thought it would be better to post the question here than as a new thread.
Since HSEB result was published yesterday, I went to my college this morning, and had a long chat with principal( We have no GC). I explained him the requirement of a counselor for my Common App. I was surprised to learn that none of the teachers had experience of handling the job of counselor in Common App. Nevertheless, he said he would prepare the documents for me (Recommendation letter, School Profile, Fee Waiver Letter, Transcript with grades in college’s letter pad – this is what I told him was needed to be uploaded my a counselor.) In addition to that, he told me create an account of counselor in Common App and fill the necessary details. He said that he would give me a call once all letters are ready, and then I have to go to him with counselor’s account, and he would upload all the documents.

I have already asked two of my teachers for recommendations, and have filled all my personal details on Common App. So, under this circumstance am I safe? Are there any things remaining that I need to ask my college to do or me as an applicant? Please guide me through this.

Your counselor will have to do lots of other things apart from writing your recommendation. He/she will need to upload your transcripts, write a profile for you and the school and fill many other minor details in Common App. Ask him/her to make an account with common app as counselor. Therefore, he/she who will be doing all this will be your counselor.

The answer here might be to useful to you. http://collegesodhpuch.com/home/question/how-to-prepare-my-application-without-a-gc/
