Future of students aspiring to study in US

Durgesh Jha 11 Rep.

After the unbelievable outcome of the American election, people say that students aspiring to study in American Universities might have a hard time getting into one. So, will the placements of international students in universities at US go down?

Following up, this is an excerpt from an email I got from the international center at my college:

You should know that the new Trump Administration must work within the U.S. constitutional system and rule of law. This means that new laws cannot be enacted quickly and you should be protected for the time being. That said, it is extremely difficult at this time to predict what will actually happen in regards to future immigration regulations.  From what we know, the new Administration has not targeted international students, faculty and scholars for any changes in current benefits.  Recognizing that this is still difficult for you, please be patient and wait for more information.

Honestly, there is no one who can answer that.

My personal view is that you shouldn’t worry about it. The major talk points are around not letting jobs slip to foreigners. It is possible that we might have a harder time to get jobs here after graduation, but admissions to universities would probably not be affected at all in my opinion.

No point in blind speculation though.
